Ah-tissue!

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I love crafty stuff...I just usually run out of time or patience to create all the ideas in my head!

So isn't it great when you can find someone to do it for you!?!?

I really wanted some paper pom poms for my Cupkates launch, but am quickly running out of time to make my own. I have stumbled across this lovely crafter who makes them in all fantastic colours and sizes. Plus I love to help support another fellow business mum.

So check out Ah-tissue

Ok I'm off to ganache my Mummy's birthday cake.

Happy Caking,

Tuesday's Tip and Giveaway winners!

Monday, July 26, 2010

First up Congrats to Helen and Leanne, the winners of my giveaway.

Leanne has nominated her sister in law who has just completed 7 months of chemo this week.

Helen nominated her next door neighbour who has been looking after her grandchildren and helping Helen through a difficult time. Both very deserving winners, Mr Roo picked well!

Tuesdays tip is about buttermilk.
Have you ever flicked through cookbooks and looked at recipes that call for buttermilk and thought "well I would have to make a special trip to the shops for that so nope can't bake it"

Guess what? You don't! All you need is some milk and vinegar. For every cup of milk (250ml) add 1 tablespoon of vinegar, mix and leave for 5 minutes. And there you have it, buttermilk. Now it will change texture and look a bit coagulated but never mind it's fine.

Happy Caking,

Tuesdays Tip

Monday, July 19, 2010

Whoops I may have missed last Tuesday's tip...sorry!

Todays tip is how to store your cupcake papers.

I think this is an awesome idea, I used to have papers squished and mixed up but not anymore. These are spaghetti containers, perfect size to hold your precious papers in place plus you can see exactly what you have and even better they sit neatly in the pantry! They are decor brand and I just grabbed them at wollies.

Sorry about the dodgy photo, but you get the idea! :o)

Happy Caking,

Ok everyone get out your diary’s and mark in August 14th 2010!

This is the date for the launch of Cupkates!!

Everyone is welcome and I would love to meet you all, there will be plenty of Cupkates to enjoy.

It will be held at the Red Beret Hotel in Redlynch and we will be starting at 5pm.

Even with all the good in my life I still forget to be grateful and remain positive, it is something I am really trying to work on.

I decided I wanted to throw some positivity out into the universe, and what better way then with cupcakes!

So I’m going to run a little giveaway. This is how it’s going to roll...

Firstly you need to live in Cairns...sorry!

Secondly this is to help you share the love too! I want you to nominate someone you know who needs a little cupcake love and they will receive 6 Cupkates to brighten their day.

What I want is for you to email me ( cupkates@kmjordan.com ) or facebook me and write me a little note as to why this person needs some sugary sunshine and from those entries I will choose 2 winners.

It can be anything or just because you love them!

You have until midnight Sunday 25th July to get your entries in and the Cupkates will be delivered sometime in the following week.

The winners will be announced on Monday 26th of July.
I am happy to deliver or the recipient may pick them up from the Red Beret hotel, Redlynch.

This past weekend little Noah celebrated his christening. His mum contacted me to make some special cupkates which included two speedway cars with Noah's Daddy and Poppys racing numbers on them.

I wasn't sure about the cars but I'm so glad I pulled them off! Noah's mummy was very happy with them and I have heard Daddy and Poppy where pretty impressed too.

Now back to position of head down bum up to organise this launch!

Happy caking,

3,2,1 launch time!

Wednesday, July 7, 2010

My mind is buzzing, I'm exploding with ideas, I'm finding it really hard to sleep and switch off!

I have decided I'm going to have a launch party for Cupkates. Not only to thank my family, friends and long time supporters but to also hopefully introduce some new clients to my lovely little business.

I haven't worked out all the details yet but I will be sure to let you all know when I do!

In the meantime make sure you are following me on Facebook. I am nagging hubby to get my website up and running so fingers crossed it won't be too much longer.

Hope your having a sweet day, happy caking,

What a weekend!

Monday, July 5, 2010

Whoa have I been busy! A super full on weekend here at Cupkates.

Firstly I did an order for Keira, who had found me on facebook. Her and her fiancée where having a lovely weekend away and wanted some cuppies to enjoy. She asked for some red hearts on top and me being my usual self couldn't help but pretty them up with their initials and some gold dust. This is the email I received from Keira yesterday, it's so awesome getting feedback.

Morning Kate,

Just wanted to thank you once again for the cupkates -they went down a treat - they looked gorgeous and tasted even better! Will definitely recommend you to all my friends in Cairns!

Keira

Then I had the cutie pie Mr Darcy's christening! Choc mint and cookie monster flavours.

Next onto Susen's 60's 60th birthday!

I totally loved making these groovy bright cupcakes. They looked awesome all together!

Sunday was my beautiful nephew Declan's christening. Darcy and Declan's mummy's wanted the same look to their christening cupcakes but Declan was very lucky because his Aunty Kate made a special teddy bear topper with baby blocks.

The flavours where vanilla on vanilla, choc mint and cookie monster
.

And the very last order of the day was some jungle cuppies for a baby shower.

I am totally smitten with these toppers, I was sad to see them go. Mr Giraffe was definitely my favourite.

Phew it was a big one and I was definitely exhausted afterwards but I had an awesome time and so happy at how popular my business is becoming and all through word of mouth.

Oh I almost forgot my Tuesday tip: EAT DESSERT FIRST!

Happy caking,
