Berry Happy Birthday...

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Blueberry to be exact!

A friend asked me if I could make cuppies for her Granny's 80th birthday, the only stipulation was they needed to be purple.

So purple they were :o)

My first attempt at blueberry buttercream and it was delish! I imagined it would be as any flavouring added to Italian buttercream is yummo.

Chocolate and Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla American and Blueberry Italian Buttercream.

Don't forget to get down to the Red Beret for you yummy coffee and Cupkate this week!!

Happy Caking,

To Cure Cancer One Cupcake at a time...

Sunday, May 16, 2010

A friend of mine was involved in a trivia night last night to raise money for her Relay for life team.

I was asked if I would like to donate so I figured why not donate some cuppies so hopefully they could raise even more money!

They where chocolate cupcakes with white chocolate Italian Meringue buttercream.

They ended up raising at total $462.30, an awesome job!

Happy Caking,

Another Happy Birthday

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Today was my wonderful mother-in-law's Birthday.

A wonderful friend I have met through our love of cupcakes shared her very special recipe for sticky date cupcakes with me, and I thought Carol's birthday would be the perfect time to test it out.

What a winner! Perfect as a dessert cupcake! So we have a sticky date cupcake with golden syrup Italian meringue buttercream and toffee shards.

I kept a few uniced in the freezer which will be perfect warmed up with a bit of ice-cream and toffee sauce when the weather cools down a little more.

Happy Caking,

Happy Mothers Day

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Wishing all the mum's out there a very happy Mothers Day.

I hope you all celebrated your Mothers day in a special way, our family enjoyed a lovely brunch together.

These cupcakes where made for a friend of my mother in laws, they where lemon cupkates.

I generally don't dig bright colours but I really like this colour combo. I think I may have to be more adventurous.

Happy Caking all,

Lola

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...

OI OI OI!

Here are some cupkates I made for an old work collegue. She had a work mate returning from overseas and wanted some Australian themed cuppies.

They took me a little (OK a lot!) more time to make then I had anticipated, but I really like the painted effect.

The echidna is definitely my favourite, so cute!

The flavours where jaffa and cookies & cream again...can't go past a winner and my new favourites!

Happy Caking everyone,

Facebook friends and Cupkates...

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Through the wonders of the internet or more specifically Facebook I have made contact with friends lost over the years. Some people I may know more about now then I did 10 years ago in high school, yes I'm old it's my 10 year reunion this year :P

(My first cupcake attempt for my Mum's birthday July 2008)

1 1/2 years ago I posted my very first cupcake photos on Facebook...they where shocking! But at the time I was still learning and had no idea of the endless cupcake possibilities. I also had a newborn son, so the fact I could even find the energy to bake a batch of cupcakes was amazing in itself. The response from my first photos was amazing, so many friends said such lovely things that I continued to add my cupcake photos and I really tried to improve my skills. I think all of that wonderful positive feedback is what has pushed me to continue with my passion of baking and decorating, the fact I could share with EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.

Cookies & Cream and Jaffa Cupkates

Over the last month I have been inundated with friends asking me to bake special treats for them, I am simply amazed. I don't know what it is about cupcakes, childhood memories? sugar rush? soft fluffy cakes? but everyone wants some! So this past weekend I made some cupcakes for an old friend, who without Facebook we probably would have never crossed paths again.

Facebook and Cupkates, bringing people together!

Happy Caking everyone,
